Despre
Hot Club de Cluj is our take on the world’s famous Hot Club de France.
With great respect and admiration for the two founders of the Hot Club concept, Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, many jazz musicians around the world formed Hot Club groups, reliving and sometimes spicing up the unique sound of the Hot Club Jazz.
Hot Club de Cluj being on the spiced side of these world wide groups, is constantly trying to live up to the extraordinary sound and personality set by the two genius founders, but also reinventing the music and taking it into the 21st century of modern Jazz.
Our main form is a four piece band (double-bass, accordion, guitar and violin) but constantly experimenting with guest instruments and voices.
The pleasure of plaiyng keeps us forever searching for that sweet sound that makes our audience smile and their feet tap the floor.
By now we managed to achieve a few important professional recognitions for our work (1st place in the Sibiu International Jazz Festival – 2015 and 1st place at the “Jazz In The Park” festival – 2015), doing our part in helping the city of Cluj in its efforts to be nominated as European Cultural Capital.
But all the professional recognition and the big stage gigs, count only as much as the vibe we feel in the smallest cafes and the happy faces and ears we spot in the smallest crowds.
So stay tuned to find out where our next gig is and be there to hear our passion for Gipsy Jazz.
